Accessing Student Email Method #1 for new students, current students, returning students, and recent alumni who have attended one of our colleges or centers since 2016
The best way to access your Student Email account is through MyPortal. MyPortal is linked on every one of our college campus website Home pages.
-
Begin on your college campus Home page (Note: it does not matter which campus you choose – each will allow all SCCCD students to log in.)
-
Click the MyPortal link.
-
Mobile device users: Click on the 3 horizontal lines at the top right corner of your screen. From the menu page that appears, look under the Search bar and click the MyPortal link on the right side, just above the APPLY NOW link.
-
When the MyPortal page displays, click on either the blue “Sign In” link in the middle of the screen, or on the “Sign In” link at the top right corner of the screen.
-
A State Center Community College District login page should appear. The login box should say, “State Center Community College District”. It should also include Username and Password data entry fields, a “Sign in” button, and a “Change Password” link.
-
If you know your username and password, enter them in the appropriate boxes and click the Sign in button.
-
If you do not know your login information, the login information for students is as follows:
-
Username: When you click “Sign in” on MyPortal, you should be taken to a Microsoft Sign-in page, which will ask you for your Email, Phone, or Skype handle. The email / username for the Microsoft Sign-in page is your 7-digit student ID number followed by @my.scccd.edu (example: 0123456@my.scccd.edu). When you’ve typed that in, click the Next button.
-
Password: The next page you see should be the SCCCD Sign-in page. Your email / username should already be posted in the Username box. The default password for MyPortal is the first letter of your first name (upper case), the first letter of your last name (lower case), and your 6-digit birthdate (MMDDYY)
-
The “Change Password” link. If you know your current password, but it is not accepted, it may have expired. To create a new password, click the “Change Password” link to open the “Update Password” page. Enter your same user ID in the “Username” box. Enter your expired current password in the “Old password” box. Then enter a brand new, never used password in the “New password” and “Confirm new password” boxes. If you do NOT know your current password, click the “Password Reset” link at the bottom of the Update Password page to receive a password reset code or link. Then you will be able to create a new password.
-
The full MyPortal page should display. The link for Student Email will be listed under the “My Favorite Apps” header.
-
The Student Email link on MyPortal should take you directly to your Inbox without prompting for additional login information. All it should ask is whether or not the user wants to stay signed into the account.
Accessing Student Email Method #2 for alumni who have NOT applied or attended one of our colleges or centers since 2016
Alumni who have not attended or applied to any of our colleges or centers since 2016 may not have the full version of MyPortal displayed after logging in. If that is the case, you will need to use the direct url to access your student email account – www.outlook.com
-
Open a new browser window and go to www.outlook.com. When the page displays, click the “Sign in” link at the top right corner of the page.
-
NOTE: an ‘In-Private’ or ‘Incognito’ browser window is preferred, especially if you are not the only one who uses the computer or mobile device you are currently using. Otherwise, the next person who uses the same device may be able to log into your student email account!
-
A Microsoft Sign in page should appear. Under the words Sign in, you will see a line that says “Email, phone, or Skype”. Enter your student ID number in email format (example – 0123456@my.scccd.edu) and then click the “Next” button.
-
A State Center Community College District Sign in page should appear. The login box should say, “State Center Community College District” with the blue SCCCD logo. It should also say, “Sign in with your SCCCD account”. Your student ID number in email format should already be present in the user ID box with an empty “Password” box under it. Enter your regular student password and click the “Sign in” button.
-
NOTE: If you do not know your student password, the default student password is the first letter of your first name (upper case), the first letter of your last name (lower case), and your 6-digit birthdate (MMDDYY). If the password has been changed or is otherwise rejected, please call the Student Systems Support Call Center at (559) 499-6072 during normal business hours (8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday), and our daytime staff will be happy to assist you with a new password.
-
The user should be taken directly to his or her Student Email Inbox without prompting for additional login information. All it should ask is whether or not the user wants to stay signed into the account.
