What is Turnitin?
Turnitin is an academic integrity program that helps instructors identify plagiarism in submitted assignments.
How does Turnitin work?
Turnitin is integrated into the upload tool on your class’s Canvas page. When the student uploads an assignment, it compares the student’s work against an enormous database of scanned documents and looks for matches. Turnitin will then calculate the percentage of copied content is found in the student’s submitted assignment and create a report for the instructor. Does Turnitin Work with the Canvas App?
There are hundreds of different classes offered by each campus, and each class has a variety of different assignments. Each assignment may have unique combination of content requirements, file format, and other factors that can affect its compatibility with the Canvas mobile app. We recommend asking your instructor if the assignment in question can be completed using the Canvas app.
What are the requirements for uploaded files in classes that use Turnitin?
Files uploaded to Canvas for classes using Turnitin must be under 100 MB in size and must contain at least 20 words of text. Turnitin is only compatible with the following file types:
