Logging into Office 365

Accessing Student Email Method #1 for new students, current students, returning students, and recent alumni 

The best way to access your Student Email account is through MyPortal.  MyPortal is linked on every one of our college campus website Home pages.  

1. Begin on your college campus Home page (Note: it does not matter which campus you choose – each will allow all SCCCD students to log in.) 

2. Click the MyPortal 

• Desktop and laptop users: The MyPortal link is located at the top right corner of the page 

• Mobile device users: Click on the 3 horizontal lines at the top right corner of your screen.  From the menu page that appears, look under the Search bar and click the MyPortal link on the right side, just above the APPLY NOW 

3. When the MyPortal page displays, click on either the blue “Sign In” button in the middle of the screen, or on the “Sign In” link at the top right corner of the screen. 

• NOTE:  If the link at the top right corner of the screen says your name, then you are already signed in. 

4. A blue and white State Center Community College District login page should appear.  It should include Username and Password data entry fields, along with a “Change Password” link near the bottom of the page. 

5. The default login information for students accessing MyPortal is as follows: 

• Username:  The username for MyPortal is your 7-digit student ID number, followed by @my.scccd.edu (example:  0123456@my.scccd.edu). 

• Password:  The default password for MyPortal is the first letter of your first name (upper case), the first letter of your last name (lower case), and your 6-digit birthdate (MMDDYY) 

• NOTE:  If the password has been changed or is otherwise rejected, the password may be reset by clicking the “Change Password” link, and on the next page, click the “Password reset” link at the bottom of the page. 

6. Once the username and password information has been entered, click the Sign-In button. 

7. The full MyPortal page should display. The link for Student Email will be listed under the “My Favorite Apps” header. 

• NOTE:  Mobile device users may need to click the “My Favorite Apps” header to display the links. 

• NOTE: Alumni who have not attended our campuses for the last 5 years (or longer) may not have the full version of MyPortal displayed after logging in.  If that is the case, you will need to use the direct url for the desired site and log in directly from the site to gain access. 

• url for Student Email – http://mail.office365.com 

8. The Student Email link on MyPortal should take you directly to your Inbox without prompting for additional login information. All it should ask is whether or not the user wants to stay signed into the account. 

• NOTE:  If you are using a shared computer, we do NOT recommend choosing the “Keep me signed in” option!  Doing so will make your account accessible to any other people who use that computer or mobile device. 

Accessing Student Email Method #2 for alumni who have not applied or attended in at least 5 years 

Alumni who have not attended our campuses for the last 5 years (or longer) may not have the full version of MyPortal displayed after logging in.  If that is the case, you will need to use the direct url for the desired site and log in directly from the site to gain access – https://mail.office365.com 

1. Open a new browser window, enter the direct access url in the address bar at the top of the page, and click Enter. 

• NOTE:  an ‘In-Private’ or ‘Incognito’ browser window is preferred, especially if you are not the only one who uses the computer or mobile device you are currently using.  Otherwise, the next person who uses the same device may be able to log into your student email account! 

2. A Microsoft Sign in page should appear. It should prompt you to enter a login ID, with an example of “someone@example.com”.  The correct login ID to access your student email account is your 7-digit student ID number followed by “@my.scccd.edu”.  When you are finished entering your login ID, click Next. 

3. A blue and white State Center Community College District login page should appear.  The login box should include Username and Password data entry fields, along with a “Change Password” link at the bottom of the page.  The default login information for students accessing MyPortal is as follows:
